GEOI Team and Air Quality Forecast and Early Warning System at AI4VN 2025 Exhibition

On September 26, 2025, at the AI Expo within the framework of the Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Day 2025 (AI4VN), the University of Engineering and Technology – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-UET) brought 8 typical technological products that have been researched and practically deployed at various Faculties/Institutes. With the presence of many prominent research and application products, VNU-UET affirms its pioneering role in AI research, application, and transfer, simultaneously contributing to pushing Vietnam further in the global AI race.

Contributing to VNU-UET’s practical AI application achievements, the VietnamAir and HanoiAir Air Quality Forecast and Early Warning System was researched and developed by the team that presented the system at the exhibition. The system is capable of forecasting Air Quality (based on the PM2.5 parameter) for the next 7 days, with a resolution of 1km for the entire territory of Vietnam. The system utilizes an AI algorithm trained for forecasting based on multi-source data, including monitoring stations, meteorological data, emissions, land use, and topography. The system has been pilot-run and updated with daily forecast results at the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development since July 2024. According to evaluations, the system has good forecast quality, especially during long and severe pollution periods. The system includes a mobile application at http://geoi.com.vn/hanoiair for Hanoi, and specialized web applications for in-depth analysis.
